This was the first Shoujo-Ai pairing I liked in Yuugiou. I didn't even like Shoujo-Ai before them. When Mai x Anzu met they did not get along. It looked to me Anzu was a little jealous of the attention Yuugi gave her. The more Mai hug out with the group the more Anzu got to know her and realized Mai wasn't a bad person. Anzu was the first person in that group Mai opened up to. Probably because they were the only females. Anzu is the one who takes up for Mai when Jounuchi pretends as if she wasn't in his dream helping him.


I like thier scenes together. I think their personalities are an interesting match. Mai seems to playfully flirt with Anzu in a few scenes which shows to me the did get a lot closer over time. Mai did a very sweet thing by losing to Anzu to help Yuugi regain his confidence. I like them as friends or something more.I also find it quite interesting that out of all of her friends the memory of Anzu was the first to be erased.
